Two Week Catch Up!

Image
Hey!!!! Sorry I missed last week, things were crazy. We went to Raiatea way early for a hike, and we were supposed to catch the  3:30  boat home, but we didn't finish the hike until 4. So we made the  5:00  boat and weren't back to Tahaa until after 6. We had to rush to a dinner appointment and that pretty much sums it up! But the hike was beautiful! There is one type of flower that is only on that island, they can't get it to grow anywhere else in the world. But it wasn't bloomed or something like that, so we didn't actually see it, so now I am questioning why I even mentioned it. Oh well. Happy Birthday Elder Kerr   Well, I guess I will give a little rundown of last week, if I even remember what was last week and what was this week, it all kind of blurs together. My birthday was great, thanks everyone for the emails! We made crepes for breakfast, and scrambled eggs and frozen hamburger for lunch, so that was pretty fancy to say the least. But it was ac

My subject line has a couple meanings. First off is my name. The name Kerr sounds pretty much exactly like the word "coeur", which is french for heart. That's what we tell everyone to help them be able to say and remember my name, and they love it. The second thing is I ate some cow heart this week. It was funny, the guy giving it to us was laughing that it was my name, and he was saying we were eating heart, like my name. For a second I thought he said we were going to eat me. That was awkward, but way funny. My companion gets such a kick out of my misinterpretations, and honestly I do to, some of them are awesome fails.    I might as well share one of those language fails now. Last night for dinner we were with a fun family, and my companion Elder McQuiston is really trying to improve his Tahitian, so he always asks how to say stuff in Tahitian, because this is pretty much the best island in the mission to really pick up Tahitian. Well, I kind of zoned out,

We Got Our Stuff!

Well,  this Friday all of our luggage came, which was super exciting, because we packed our carry on for two days, and ended up going over a week with just that, because they kept forgetting to put our stuff on the boats. But now I have more than two pairs of clothes and all of my french scriptures, and a mosquito net, so life is good!   Man this is crazy, I feel like so much happens, but when it comes to actually writing the email, its hard to remember specifics (dont worry mom, I'm keeping a good journal). I guess I will just share a few fun facts about what life here is like. We basically live off of baguettes here, because they are super cheap, and everything else is way expensive because it costs a ton to ship stuff out here. When we eat with members its usually rice and chicken and potatoes, although I have had a few other fun things too. One thing called huru (breadfruit in english, McKade mentioned them in his email), Poisson cru, which is basically raw fish and citrus,

So the subject line is the Island Im on!!! Look it up, I think its a little north east of Tahiti, but Im not totally sure. Also, this is a French keyboard, so please forgive typos. Wow I feel like I have been here so long, I have so much to say! First off, we traveled all day  Monday  and got here late that night. We slept behind the Temple then the next day had some training. Then because I was heading off the island, I spent one more night there. the next day I took two little planes and a boat to get here! It was fun and so beautiful. Then next thing I know, Im out teaching lessons in French!!!   So the language, well lets just say its a good humbling experience. I understand Nothing but I am trying! It has caused some funny times though. So the background to this next story is all of our supplies were gonna get here F riday  by boat, but it is delayed until  Wednesday , so I don't have my bike yet and Im living out of a carry on, fun times. Anyway, my companion was talking
