Tahaa!!!!!!!!!
So the subject line is the Island Im on!!! Look it up, I think its a little north east of Tahiti, but Im not totally sure. Also, this is a French keyboard, so please forgive typos. Wow I feel like I have been here so long, I have so much to say! First off, we traveled all day Monday and got here late that night. We slept behind the Temple then the next day had some training. Then because I was heading off the island, I spent one more night there. the next day I took two little planes and a boat to get here! It was fun and so beautiful. Then next thing I know, Im out teaching lessons in French!!!
So the language, well lets just say its a good humbling experience. I understand Nothing but I am trying! It has caused some funny times though. So the background to this next story is all of our supplies were gonna get here Friday by boat, but it is delayed until Wednesday, so I don't have my bike yet and Im living out of a carry on, fun times. Anyway, my companion was talking to someone, and they kept looking at me and the bike I'm borrowing. I kept hearing them say bike, so in an effort to join I said Something along the lines of "this isn't my bike, but I get mine tonight" The guy gave me a super weird look and said no, then kept talking to my companion. Afterwards my companion told me that the guy had just said we weren't getting the bikes until Wednesday, and thats when I jumped it. Thats one of many funny stories, so the language is hard, but I have faith it will come and I'm trying to just laugh at myself about it now.
The area we are in has a lot of promise. We are teaching a good amount of investigators, and have even found a few more this week. My companion is really about working smartly so he is good at finding and teaching. The ward we are in is cool, and the bishop is funny. He doesn't speak french very well, he mostly speaks Tahitian, but that makes for fun times. I am excited to actually be able to talk and understand one day so that I can really help with the work!
Being here has been so humbling. I don't think I have seen a single house that is more than just a couple rooms open to the outside. All the houses are way small and totally open, but everyone here is so nice and grateful. It has been awesome to see people who are truly grateful for what they have, it has given me a good change in perspective. I absolutely know that we are all so blessed in so many ways we cant even imagine.
Another thing, this island is soooooooooo beautiful!!! It is awesome! We went on a hike today that just blew me away. wow! The pictures just don't do it justice, but I took a bunch anyway. Im not sure how many I will be able to send though, if any, so forgive me if none get sent.
