Bye Bye Barbados
Hey everybody! This week has been awesome, and kind of totally crazy! I want to start with a kind of funny story. So there are two missionaries who are going to Tahiti, but they already knew French, so they only got here three weeks ago, and have been in a different district and zone from us, but will join us on Monday to learn Tahitian. But since their whole district was getting ready to leave this weekend, they were told to come and join our class yesterday. They didn't know that we didn't have class though, we had service, so they spent about three hours all alone trying to find us. And here's the funny part, one is an Elder, and the other one is a Sister. Since they didn't have companions, they were supposed to hook up with us right away so they wouldn't be alone. But since they couldn't find us, they were stuck in the situation where they couldn't be alone, but they couldn't be together either. Basically they spent the whole time awkwardly walking about ten feet away from each other. I was laughing so hard as they told us about their morning. Good times.
So the craziest thing happened on Sunday. I was sitting there in sacrament meeting, and I was surprised as they released the old zone leaders. Then I about had a panic attack as they announced "And the next zone leaders are Elder Ashworth and Elder Kerr". I was so shocked. So this week I have been trying to figure that out. Turns out I really don't have to do a whole lot, but I do get the awesome opportunity to try to meet everyone in our zone, which has about 8 districts. Another thing we do is carry around a phone, and if the front desk needs anyone, they call us and it's our job to find them. Our first day the phone rang right after class, and they told us we needed to find a certain Elder and send him to the medical office. We started to low key panic because we had no clue who this Elder even was, and they made it sound kind of urgent. We basically wasted half an hour before lunch trying to find him. Then finally at lunch someone pointed him out to us. I ran over and told him and he responded "Ya, I was just there, someone who works there was in my ward and brought cookies for me." It was at that moment we realized that the phone isn't actually for emergencies. Who knew.
I also had some cool spiritual experiences this week. My companion and I have been having good lessons, but we are having some real trouble teaching in unity. The problem is that in the middle of a lesson, if an opportunity comes to teach something I think will help them, I jump on it, and my companion is much more focused on staying on the lesson plan. But we had one lesson last Saturday, where we really met in the middle, and the spirit was so strong! It was honestly crazy, these are totally fake investigators, but when Elder Ashworth tried to invite her to get baptized, he got super choked up because of how strong the spirit was! Then I looked over and our investigator had tears streaming down her face. I had some huge grin on my face, which probably looked funny because they were both crying, but what matters is that the spirit was so strong. That experience has definitely helped us know how to teach better. I am learning so much here!
So the subject line is because the Barbados district leaves on Sunday. It is gonna be super sad, because we have all gotten so tight, and also McKade is in that district. But even though we are gonna miss them, I am way excited for them to get out into the field. They are all going to be amazing missionaries! And I probably will be to busy to really miss them that much anyway. Welcoming in new elders this week as zone leaders and starting to learn a new language, I am totally going to have my hands full. Anyway, I love you all and hope you have an amazing week! Remember to read your scriptures and say your prayers! Oh, one last thing. My teacher always tells us to say hi from her. So Soeur Larsen says hi! (Soeur is sister in French). Bye!
1.Twin day!
2. I got a hair cut. It is actually pretty short, but it was really poofy right then, so it might not look like it.
