Ok, no lie, I love it here. My district is honestly the bomb! The elders in my room are so fun to be with and I love spending time with them (which is good considering that's all I ever do). The elders in my room are Elders Taylor, Miller, and my companion, Elder Ashworth. It is pretty nice having a six person room for four people. Elder Taylor is the ultimate optimist and it is impossible not to be happy around him. Elder Miller is super smart and way funny. You would not believe the way pun opportunities explode when you are learning a second language. And my companion is so nice and he has a super contagious laugh. I love it! All three of those elders are also amazing singers. We will randomly break into song all the time and there will be an amazing four part harmony going. It's a win win that I don't know how to harmonize, because they all want to and someone needs to get the melody, so it works great for me!
I am gonna give a quick run through of a typical day, just to try to give you all an idea of what it is like here. We get up and plan in the morning, then go to breakfast. After breakfast, we usually study for a while. Then we have a three hour French class. Then we have lunch and exercise time. For exercise time we usually play volleyball, My district and Mckade's district play together. Elders Taylor, Miller, and Ashworth all played volleyball on club teams and are amazing, so the games are so sweet. Then after that we have time to teach our investigator and study more. Then it is dinner and more study time! I know that sounds like a lot of time to study, but it never feels like enough, the time flies during study time. The order of when we do what changes every day, which is super nice.
French is coming along amazingly. The amount of progress I have made is incredible, the help of the spirit cannot be denied. I say all of my prayers in French now, and I can bear my testimony pretty well in French too. We have taught multiple lessons to our investigator in French, and they are so fun. Now, I know I still have a ton to learn, I have barely scraped the surface of the language, but considering I have only been here I week, I love how much I have learned.
One funny story: So as far as anyone tells us, our investigators are real. That is obviously not true, who would trust a real investigator with a couple of elders who can't speak French? But the one thing we didn't realize is that the investigators are also teachers here. I was with my companion and Mckade and his companion one day in the halls just chatting, and my teacher walked by. After she walked past, McKade told us that she was his investigator. We thought that was so funny because she was our teacher. We spent the rest of the week joking about how good their lessons must be going, because she already got a job here and started teaching. Anyway, I thought that was awesome, probably not as funny in writing though, sorry.
Wow this has been a long email, sorry! I just want to end with a spiritual thought. On Sunday, we got to watch a video of a talk Elder Bednar gave to the MTC a few years ago. That video can only be watched here, and it was amazing. He talked about the Character of Christ and the importance of being converted. He promised that if we stay converted, and continually live what we believe, we will never fall away. That is so amazing! Have a great week!
